I have recently started painting again and have started with watercolours even though I am much more familiar with acrylic, oil and pastel. I painted plants I bought so I could remember how to look after them better. I am enjoying the challenging and unexpected effects of using them. The biggest challenge is to plan the painting out to create the right colours and tonal range but not so much that it deadens the look. I need to work on creating a realistic light source, which is probably the hardest thing to do in a painting. I also need to start painting on proper paper so I can commit to doing it properly without the fear of messing it up.
